Krisha School of Arts was founded by Ramya Krisha out of a lifelong devotion to Thanjavur art. What began as a passion for the temple murals and gilded panels of Tamil Nadu grew into a mission: to keep this centuries-old craft alive, and to place its beauty within reach of every home.

Trained in the classical techniques of gold-foil embossing, relief work and natural pigments, Ramya has spent years perfecting each stage of a Tanjore painting — from sketching the deity and laying the gesso relief, to setting semi-precious stones and applying pure 22K gold by hand. Every piece that leaves her studio carries that personal touch and an uncompromising standard of quality.

Beyond crafting paintings, Ramya also nurtures the next generation of artists through Krisha School of Arts, teaching the discipline and devotion the art demands to students of all ages. Krisha Arts is the natural next step in that journey — a way to share this divine art directly with you, wherever you are.

The Journey of a Painting

The chosen deity is hand-sketched onto a teak-backed canvas board, composition perfected.

Step 02Gesso Relief (Embossing)

Fine gesso is built up by hand to create the raised 2D & 3D relief that defines Tanjore art.

Step 0322K Gold Foil

Pure 22K gold foil is laid over the relief — the shimmering signature of an authentic piece.

Step 04Stones & Colour

Semi-precious stones are hand-set and rich natural colours are painted in with an antique finish.

Step 05Framing & Delivery

Set in a seasoned Chettinad teak frame, inspected, and shipped to you with care.
